I love words; especially those not everyone uses.
And I love scrabble, particularly playing with an old scrabble set with wooden letters.
But have to admit that I hate crossword puzzles- I just cannot get enthusiastic about trying to unravel clues someone else has very cleverly made up. I do have the romantic picture in my mind of a dear brother of mine and his wife sitting on their beautiful upstairs balcony, steaming coffee mugs at their elbows companionably doing the morning crossword... but still it does not tempt me to become an enthusiast.
I have favourite words like rococo. And have you ever thought of the opposite of disgruntled? I love the thought of being gruntled - such a warm snugly sort of word! Recently I have been given a book that contains 120 words you should know and was pleased that I did know quite a few of them. One I didn’t know and the book termed “delightful but useless” is delightful- borborygmus- it means stomach rumbling- what else could it mean?
