guest post: happy weekend

Friday, August 30, 2013

Happy weekend! Im feeling sorry for myself because the husband left thins morning for the Karoo, which means 2 months until he comes home and I can kiss him. A lot of my married friends say I am lucky to 'have a break' - in a nice way - but the thought of it is only nice because it isn't happening to them. I don't really want a break. Anyway, such is life!

If you are anywhere near social media you would know that it is well and truly snowing in the Cape (even on Table Mountain, WTF?) which means gone is our spring weekend, the cold weather is definitely blowing in, so much for a long lazy weekend with babes and dogs outside! Tomorrow I am going to a lunch at a friends house - I guess it will be warm coats and hot fires, which are quite nice too.

Have a happy one.

Some links for Friday:

You wash/I'll dry. I heart these tea towels.

Call me crazy but Ernest is so getting a bow tie!

I am desperate to learn to use Photoshop. Here are 10 quick and easy Photoshop tutorials.

Best wedding video ever. (And no, unfortunately, it's not mine!)

I want Sandra Bullock and George Clooney to get married.

You know I obsessed with The Fixer. Season 3 promo, I can't take it.

I think I am going to try and make Black Sesame ice cream, oh yum!

guest post: carpet love

How amazing are these patterned carpets? I love them and I love these pics of them. Each one is hand woven by a community of crafts people outside Jodhpur in India. Definitely on my home wish list!

guest post: couple crush

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

I know that this is kind of weird but I have a serious couple crush on Max Wanger and his wife Margaux. They are so cool and creative. Max is the most amazing photographer. How beautiful are his instagram snaps of his baby boy and lovely wife?

guest post: happy 1 month old twins

Monday, August 26, 2013

Can you believe the beautiful twins are already 1 month old? Although I cannot imagine life without these baby girls, I still feel that 1 month is far too old for the tiny beings.

Here is a pic of the Anna and Florence at 1 month, taken today!

Can someone say TGIF? I am sure feeling it. What are you up to this weekend? I actually don't have much planned. This is the husbands last weekend in Jo'burg so hopefully some nice dinners, extra cuddle time and on Sunday a big family lunch.

I absolutely love this picture (below). This image was taken by Arthur Pollock in 1984 and shows the delivery of dinosaurs for exhibit at the Boston Museum of Science. Isn't it fantastic?

Here are some links from around the web:

I think the La Marais Gap collection for babes is adorable!

Here is what is in my handbag.

Do you watch The Fixer? I am beyond obsessed! I think Olivia Pope's wardrobe is amazing, here is what her costume designer says.

I'm loving slouchy tops at the moment. This one from Country Road is on my shopping list for sure.

Guest Post: Amazing cardboard masks

Thursday, August 22, 2013

These masks have been created by Jozef Mvra from Prague. I find them fascinating, although I can hardly imagine wearing one I think they would look fantastic as decor pieces, don't you?

Guest post: Hello coolest socks around

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Are these not the most wonderful socks? I usually wear plain black or white socks but seeing these makes me want drawers of statement socks. Am I crazy?

I am in Cape Town with the husband until Sunday. We are both working from CT today and then we are indulging in some time out. I told you (here) that I wanted to get away for a couple days before the husband goes away for work and we decided on Cape Town. I am following Bailey's suggestions on where to go and what to eat. I have already booked a table at Pot Luck Club and we will definitely hit Loading Bay for brunch on Saturday. I'm also looking forward to a spa visit (we are suckers for a massage!) and long walks along Sea Point Promenade.

Here are some links worth browsing:

What do do when you make someone angry. I thought this was pretty interesting.

I just want this too.

Best advice for playing with kids. PS. I do this a lot.

This video of a leopard adopting a baby baboon made me cry. Watch it now.

Oh my goodness. I have to make this: a 10 foot long birthday candelabra

I'm doing coffee shops as offices today. This morning is Field Coffee in town and this afternoon will be Truth Coffee

For Bailey's babyshower I bought her two of these swaddles. The twins and their mama love them, I'm tempted to but the rest of the range. And while I am shopping for the babes, isn't this a great swing

Simple style is always the best. Jeans, jersey, heels... done.

guest post: one of the most amazing things I have ever seen

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

The husband and I went to Vietnam for honeymoon. We travelled from Hong Kong (best city), to Ho Chi Minh City, to Hue to Hoi An and finally to Hanoi. We spent new years eve on a boat in Halong Bay which really was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Here are some of our pics:

Daleahs

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Have you tried the (now not so) new eatery Daleahs in Braamfontein? While I only had a freshly squeezed juice when I was there a couple of months ago (I believe you can judge a place on their juice), the food coming out of the kitchen definitely warrants a return visit. I love their corporate identity too, designed by Says Who - how cute are those take away mug sleeves!
