Guest Post: Happy Easter Weekend

Thursday, March 28, 2013

At last this long weekend has arrived! I am heading off to Ingwelala with 8 friends - it is sure to be one hell of a weekend. I have been planning this week and even for an obsessive organiser like me, 8 people for 5 days, 3 meals a day with no shops near by and no electricity and limited fridge space, the meals have been quite a task.

Here are some fun posts from around the web:

OMG did you see this video of Justin Timberlake and Jonathan Ross getting drunk?

Top 10 Easter bunnies. I want them all.

Something especially for Easter: Stella McCartney's Easter Egg app on her website. WARNING: This is a huge time waster!

I am trying to take gourmet meals into the bush for the weekend, so I'm trying out this Pinto Bean and Spinach Salad, it looks super easy and sounds super yum.

The husband and I just treated ourselves to a Nespresso Coffee Machine, I know, I know, we are a little late to jump on the bandwagon but we are super pleased with ourselves.

Don't you think this ring is beautiful, sigh.

100 Layer Cake was definitely one of my favourite wedding inspiration sites! Now see inside the blog's curator, Amanda Dawbarn's house... I officially have job/home/wardrobe envy.

And finally, here is Ernest on a tray.

Guest Post: Shopping List

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

These items are on my autumn shopping list... again, like all my shopping lists, these are items I desperately want but probably won't get.

1. Striped Umbrella by Jean Paul Gaultier for Opening Ceremony

2. A Dries van Noten tee.

3. Maison Martin Margiela glitter boots.

4. Some fab new shades, like these ones. They are called 'stare down shades' which if you ask me is a pretty cool name.

5. A super comfy track suit top (which I'll dress up with silk pants and heels or downs with jeans and sneakers)

6. A Christopher Kane sheer bow blouse, OMG, I wish.

Guest Post: Wedding Hair

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

My wedding my 4 and a half months ago! Eeeek, it feels so long ago. Anyway, I thought I would share my wedding hair.
Here are a few of my inspiration pics:

Here are some pics of me having my hair done on the day. Most brides have hair trials by a top hairstylist but I simply met my air dresser on the day. She lives in the tiny town of Malelane, where I got married, and actually does my granny's hair - that how I chose her! How many brides can say that?
She was lovely and this was the first time I have ever liked how someone else has done my hair - on my wedding day, a pretty good day to get it right ;-)

And the final look:

As you know by now We Love Pictures look our wedding pics.

Guest Post: Because I cannot wait to be the aunt of twins

Monday, March 25, 2013

Ps. Incase you missed it on Friday - these are the cutest twins I have ever seen (until Bailey's arrive, of course).

Guest Post: Happy Weekend

Friday, March 22, 2013

What are you up to this weekend? I have traveling fomo since both my sisters are away - Bailey is in Cape Town for 10 days, jelly! And Hugolyne is in London/ Barcelona. And then of course a whole lot of people have taken Friday off to make a 4 day weekend, meanwhile I even worked on the public holiday yesterday! Anyway, enough with the moaning, Cheska. This weekend is going to be a goodie: I have a catch up girls lunch on Saturday at Vovo Telo (yum, bring on the carbs) and on Saturday night we are going on a double date to Cirque du Soleil - Im making hot dogs at our house before. Sunday we have puppy training - of course we do!

If you are like me, and working on this Friday, here are some links to browse while you pretend to work:

Tommy Ton shot street style for Style.com in Tokyo - how crazy is some of the fashion!?

I am so excited for Body Worlds to finally come to Jo'burg, I am definitely going to go see it.

Do you know Blurb? I have become a huge fan and am creating every family member their own album from our wedding. Obsessed much? I know.

It is Easter weekend next week which makes me go into DIY overdrive, how amazing are these three Easter DIYs? 1) Gold foil eggs 2) Dipped eggs 3) Monochrome eggs - never fear if you are feeling creative fomo, I feel it too.

These tiny rainbow cakes are a task I want to conquer.

And finally, I have found the perfect twin BFFs for Bailey's twinlets.

Twin reactions

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

The twinlets are 19 weeks this weeks. Which is the twin world is half way through the pregnancy. Which in my world is a scary thought and very real indication of how quickly time speeds by when you start to measure it in weeks.

Me and the twinlets at 18.5 weeks.

It has been fun telling friends and strangers (yip, I've voluntarily told random strangers that I am pregnant with twins - sometimes I just can't keep it in and act normal) over the last few weeks. People are so excited when we tell them I am pregnant but the reactions we get to the news are that we are expecting twins vary range from envy to down right terror.
  • Closed eyes and no words (sometimes I think they are saying a silent prayer for us)
  • Very wide eyes
  • "How on earth are you goign to carry two babies in there?" (I ask myself this question too but I believe you get the babies you are meant to carry and so far so good)
  • "Rather you than me"
  • "You are goign to be HUGE" (Thanks for that boost to my self esteem)
  • "Two for the price of one" (Price of one? Do they have any idea what it is like to carry TWO babies? And what about the price of buying twin prams, two cots, two high chairs, to car seats, I could go on...)
  • "I would hate to have twins" (Well that's nice, thanks)
  • "You are so lucky" (One of the better ones)
  • "At least you can get them over and done with" (This one comes up the most and I really don't understand it. Why would you have kids to get it over and done with? Children are a life long commitment. And maybe I don't want to get it over and done with like it is some obligation and not a choice...)
My parents' domestic worker, Letti, who has been in our family since I can remember gave it to me straight as she herself is a mother of twins. She said I will have no sleep, they will be  impossible, I will probably never be dressed above the waistline (!?), and she wants nothing to do with them (with a wink in her eye). That was pretty refreshing.

Anyway, I am super excited about two and can't even imagine the prospect of only having one now. I am amazed to think there are two tinies (the size of mangoes!) growing into little humans right inside of me. ***

Guest Post: Happy Weekend

Friday, March 15, 2013

Happy weekend everyone. This one was a long one for me... I think the puppy duties caught up and my new lifestyle/waking up schedule took it's toll. Don't get me wrong, though, I am still beyond obsessed with my little pup. What are you up to? I am having a home weekend, cooking for friends tonight and choosing paint colours tomorrow aka operation dressing room. I can't wait!

To get you through the rest of Friday, here are some posts from around the web. These ones are goodies.

Oh my goodness, I would love to get Ernest a Royal Crown Derby pet bowl. I think it would suit him (and his fancy name).

I baked these unbelievable delicious salted caramel stuffed chocolate cookies last night. I know - pretty impressive for a Thursday night. They are really easy to make and were a hit. My tips? Buy the salfted caramels from Woolies, that is what I used and they are a bake and eat kind of thing, best hot, sticky and delicious.

We were super excited to hear that Michael McIntyre is coming to SA, we have already booked tickets. Here is my fav show of his: The man drawer.

These pics fascinate me. I cannot believe how much the world has changed in just 8 years.

Kate Moss reads Fifty Shades of Grey. Seriously.

the best people

"The best people possess a feeling for beauty,
the courage to take risks, the discipline
to tell the truth, the capacity for sacrifice.
Ironically, their virtues make them vulnerable;
they are often wounded, sometimes destroyed."

Ernest is an 8 week old Airedale Terrier puppy who came to live with us today. I am completely in love.

Saturdays Surf NYC

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

Surf culture in NYC? You can find anything in NYC. And this particular surf shop in the West Village is an awesome little hangout with a coffee bar upfront and benches outside, you can watch the cool kids of Perry Street go by while idly wondering which of the cool T's you saw inside you are going to purchase. (Oh, and they sell Mast Brothers chocolate).
