Banksy in Africa

Thursday, July 29, 2010

Works by the legendary street artist, Banksy, have been spotted in Africa. Apparently the artworks were done earlier this year in Mali stretching from Bamako to Timbuktu, possibly Cairo too. My fave is the zebra one. There was speculation that is may have been an admirer but the appearance of the images on his site pretty much confirms that he was here. How cool is that.

What a fab life this chap leads.
Do I notice a slackening off of his usual edge though; his work appears to be moving more to whimsy rather than radical earlier stuff of kissing cops and antiwar images.
Given the revolutionary events unfolding momentously B4 our eyes all over North Africa, then some of his wall art - wild animlad and all - seems a bit tame!
