When can I move in?

I want these bathroom mirrors

Love the chalkboard bedroom

If I worked from home, I'd like this to be my office (books included)

This kitchen looks pretty perfect to me

You know I love giant (and not so giant) maps

I. need.Wallpaper.

Bookshelves, you can come live in my home.

Four years ago

Today, four years ago, I met the man that is now my husband. We went on one date and then drove across the country together. That was a good meeting.

I need to start taking my own advice...

The Girl in the Yellow Dress

Saturday, December 3, 2011

I don't usually blog on the weekend but found some time to catch up on emails and stuff and wish that every blog post could be written at Nice with a cup of peppermint tea and a slice of their to-die-for roulade.

Last night I went to see The Girl in the Yellow Dress at the Market Theatre with the husband, Rochelle of Worded Reflections, and Tshepo of Frank-l-in. The show stars a friend of mine, Kate Liquorish (take a look at her wonderful food blog UndomestiKated) and the uber-talented Nat Ramabulana. They are, in short, brilliant.

If you are in Johannesburg, do yourself a favour and go and see this play. In my uninformed opinion, it really SA theatre at its best. It is on for one more week only.

Guest Post: Happy Weekend

Thursday, December 1, 2011

What are you doing this weekend? It is a busy one for me! Wrap party tonight at the boyfriend's work. The theme is Hawaii or beach or something like that. I.do.not.wear.bikinis (or other swimwear).to.a.party. So I am wearing a cute asymmetrical dress, with a flower in my hair. Tomorrow I have a bridesmaid breakfast with the bride-to-be, yum. And then it is time for some Christmas shopping... We also have a big Christmas party tomorrow night. It is black tie but I am thinking I might wear antlers.

I love this.

Here are a few posts around the web for your fab Friday:

Some cool gift ideas for guys. I have double the trouble in December because the boyfriend's birthday is on the 18th. And another gift guide of things under $25.

The best advice I have seen this week.

I need this skirt. That is all.

Marni is the next designer up for a collaboration with H&M. Sigh!

I love these postcards by Holly Webber. Can I order them all please? Why, thank you.

If wish I could own this entire collection, it is all I would wear during the summer holidays.

Do you know about Wearing the Pants?

PS. Honor Elizabeth in her first pair of jeans.

Success

I started a new job today. And as my heart flutters with nerves I remind myself that challenging yourself is a good thing. It also gets me thinking about the path I am on, the career I am creating and where I want to be and how I am going to get there. To be honest, at the end of the day, I prescribe by Ralph Waldo Emerson's definition of success:

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."

Guest Post: My friend is saying I do

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

Yesterday I am sitting at work on a pretty average Tuesday when I get called to front desk to collect a delivery. It is a beautiful orchid with a just as beautiful card, inside the note talks about friendship and then says, "...so I would love it if you would be my bridesmaid." Isn't that the best question a girl could ask her friend? And isn't that the best way to ask it?

So now, because I am a bridesmaid-to-be, here are some pretty beautiful wedding things...

I kind of love this stationary style

Peonies are so beautiful

Long tables look so elegant

Love striped straws and the "I do" flags

This is quite cute

I think "going away" on a bike is cool
