You smell nice.

Tonight Cheska and I are going to experience a sensory exploration of Tom Ford's new fragrances. Yum (that yum is more for Tom Ford than the fragrances). The theme: Uber (what to wear!?). I am rather excited.

And did I mention that I heart Tom Ford? (Yes, yes, I know he won't be there, but still...).

 {Hello Mr Ford}

Melt Bottles

Polish designer Agnieszka Bar has created a range of glass bottles with collapsed bases. Aren't they beautiful. It would look perfect on my new counter tops in my new kitchen (yip, we are still renovating... 3 months on).

Although this project by Dina Goldstein, titled 'Fallen Princesses' is rather disturbing and cynical, I do find it rather funny.

(Ps. Click on the images to enlarge - it is worth seeing these close up!)

Stephen Wiltshire is an autistic savant, who expresses his profound capabilities through his art. He has an amazing ability to draw or paint cityscapes from memory. His work is breathtaking.

Have a rad weekend

Friday, August 10, 2012

This weekend feels rather un-earned after our Thursday public holiday. But I am not complaining. What are your plans for the weekend? My plans include a lunch with the sisters, yoga (yip, this lazy bum has been dragging itself to yoga for the last week), perhaps a visit to this exhibition, and a game of tennis on Sunday (I have not played tennis since my school days... This shall be interesting). And of course the obligatory Olympic viewing and supporting of Team SA!

Yes, yes, yes. I know you all know it snowed in Jo'burg this week. So here are the perfect snow shoes.
In the name of the astrological feats achieved this week, here is astronaut Anna Fisher, in 198.

And here is NASA today, celebrating Curiosity's landing (see, NASA geniuses are people too!). And this is Curiosity herself (brave lady robot that she is).

Amazing panoramic veiws of Mars

Oh boo. This is the last weekend of Olympic viewing. How great have the Olympic been this year! Well done London.

- How well do you know your Olympic logos?

- The youngest and oldest Olympic competitors. This year the oldest Olympian is over 70 years old!

- Guess which country has won the most medals per capita

- Inspired by the Olympics? Try a two minute sprint work out.Or are you more like this or this?

- What determines success? Luck versus skill.

Happy Women's Day!

Thursday, August 9, 2012

To all my South African readers, happy Women's Day to you!

I feel very blessed to come from a family over-flowing with women (the possible cause for my father being grey beyond his years), so most day's feel like women's day in our household. However, if any of them are reading this, thank-you for being a part of who I am today. To my niece for holding my heart in her perfect little hand, to my gran who never fails to inspire me with her grace and strength, to my sisters who are my best friends, and my mom who is our light and rock. A big thank-you also to my lovely lady friends all around the world, and of course let's not forget the reason behind today's public holiday - the women who helped shaped our country.
