Guest Post: Happy Weekend

Friday, February 18, 2011

Seeing as it is all fashion fashion fashion on my mind with Joburg Fashion Week currently taking place, and New York FashioN Week finishing today, moving onto London over the weekend... these are some fashion focused links to get you through this fashionable Friday:

For my posts about Joburg Fashion week, including front row madness, cool street style and the best of the best shows, have a look here.

Check out these future style blogging stars.

Have a look at this cute picture of Tavi, how are you feeling about her new hair hair colour? To be honest, I am not convinced.

Fashion weeks would not be complete with Ms Anna Wintour

I want this Alexander Wang knit.

How great is this article? And how jealous are you of these woman who buy garmets straight off the runway... in my dreams.

ps. Have you heard of Wear South African Friday? Today I am wearing my Coppelia striped tee.

Where do good ideas come from?

Guest Post: Pretty Prints

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

I am enjoying the slow, collection process of adding things to my home. I don't think a home, it's walls, shelves (and certainly the wardrobe) are ever completely complete.

Here are a few prints which I would love to add to my study:

A new approach on London.

A pretty floral heart.

And one for Honor Elizabeth, so that she will know all her animals.

Birthdays make you realise how quickly time passes. I am fascinated by this photography project of Irina Werning who gets her subjects to reenact photographs from their childhood. The outcome is somewhat amusing + somewhat amazing and makes you want to slow the clock a bit. I love seeing how some people have not changed one single bit!

Happy birthday!

It's the husband's birthday today. I gave him an atlas so we can plan our adventures around the world. And I wrapped it up in spots and stripes (perhaps more appreciated by me than him :))

Ever after

Lauren Fleishman did this series of portraits of couples who have been together for more than 50 years and still in love. Now that's truly inspiring and romantic.

I love the things the couples have written about their love:

"Little by little we age but we don't change in our hearts. Love gets stronger. That is the way I feel. I believe he feels the same way. Yes, he was my first love. My first love and my last." Leila Ramos (one of the wives in the series)

"Words cannot describe what I have to look forward to being in your life." Love letter, 1943

Happy Valentine's Day!

I love this video. It puts things into perspective. And it was shot in NY.

Fifty People, One Question: New York

Have a wondeful weekend!

Take a moment to remember this time 21 years ago Mandela was released from prison.

We are off to the U2 concert on Sunday - I cannot wait to see them live at teh FNB stadium with 100,000 fans!

Here are some easy instructions from Joanna on how to master the art of the messy side ponytail (I am loving this style right now). Potential rock concert hairstyle for Sunday?

And because Valentine's Day is just around the corner, here are some pics of a fun wedding shot by Color Me Katie
