So long Papa, we will miss you

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

My grandpa, who everyone calls Papa no matter where they are on the family tree, passed away yesterday. If there is one word to describe him it would be dashing: he's a very tall man and emanated that kind of presence. The cravate he used to wear suited him perfectly. But then there is never just one word to describe someone: he was also adoring of all of us - his grandchildren, children, and wife ("pet" is a name he often used for us). He was many others things, as a full and adventurous life will naturally bring about. He travelled the world and had stories from all its corners. He always had that naughty spark in his eye...

Arthur Kenworthy Rhodes died at home, next to his wife of over 55 years, overlooking the Crocodile River, one of his favorite spots on earth. We love you Papa, may you rest in peace.
