Guest Post: Nail It

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

I am never really that experimental with my nails, are you? But these pics are giving me some new season nail inspiration... What do you think? I am especially loving the gold!

Honest chocolate

Monday, May 14, 2012

Honest, raw organic chocolate from Cape Town, is totally yummy. Plus there are no preservatives, artificial flavouring or emulsifiers so as to keep the chocolate as pure as possible. It is also free of dairy and processed sugar, making it a healthier alternative (as if we need an excuse to eat chocolate!)

And how lovely is their packaging!?

Happy Mothers Day!

{from here}

Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there, the grandmothers, moms-to-be, and future moms.

Here's a picture of the beautiful mothers in my life - my grandmother, my sister and my own mom. You are a wonderful reason to celebrate.

Weekend time!

Thursday, May 10, 2012

Whew what a hectic week it has been. Non-stop from the word go. Which makes weekends all that much sweeter.

What are you getting up to? I am planning on catching up on some of the above, packing up our house (10 days until the renovation starts), hanging out with my niece, going on a photographic excursion (5.30am start on a Sunday anyone?),  having lunch here for Mothers Day with the inlaws, and hopefully going to get to see these guys play on Sunday afternoon.

Here some links from around the web this week to make your day speed by:

The dots! The bow! I want this shirt hanging in my closet please

And these high-waist pants too!

How gorgeous are these cheetah flats?

Speaking about clothes, I found this closet spring cleaning advise very useful

A cheeky take on the LV brand

An easy way to add a healthy dollop of flavour to most meals

Oh yum! This ice-cream has my mouth watering

This daycare in Italy is pretty amazing

Quite the contrast to these kids' over-crowed, colour-coded lives

I want to see the world in rainbow colours a-top this museum in Denmark

Have a good one little bunnies!

WAM! Opening

Tonight we are going to the opening of the WITS Art Museum (WAM). I have seen the museum develop over the past year and can't wait to see the walls adorned with works by great artists, new and old, in the exhibition "Seeing Stars" (a play on both the acronym of the museum and the artists that will be featured). As senior curator Julia Charlton explains "It’s the stars of the collection on display, the really great or interesting pieces … but also, it’s ‘seeing stars’, like being hit on the head. We are very starry-eyed about getting here."

But it is the space itself that I love the most - the triple volumes, the winding ramps and the incorporation of the old with the modern (the architects connected three buildings to form the space). Inside, I am reminded of the Guggenheim, but with a good strong does of Johannesburg aesthetic. It will be a landmark, not only in Braamfontein, but in South Africa itself, housing an extensive collection of South African and African art. For Jo'burg locals and visitors alike, this is well worth experiencing.

The WAM! Seeing Stars Exhibition is open to the public from May 19 to August 19.
Read more about the exhibition and opening here.

In the name of art and what it brings to a city, here are some pics I took on my recent trip to London:

Guest Post: Sisters back in the day

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

I found these old pics of my sisters and I. I love the way my mum dressed us in matching outfits, which she sewed herself I must add!
