Happy three months Honor

Our beautiful little niece is three months today. If it is possible I heart more each day. This pics was taken about 2 weeks ago but that expression gets me every time.

I have been all about the weekend since Monday. As you already know Bailey and I are both off to Cape Town this weekend, not together but we will meet up on monday for a long lunch (for the good old days), a lazy afternoon by the pool and the night together in Bantry Bay (with the boyfriend and the husband, of course). I feel that this is one of our last weekends of pure summertime, in Joburg I have already noticed the leaves turning colour and I have worn a little scarf twice this week. What are you up to for the weekend?

I know this is actually a promotional giveaway necklace but I think it would make the most fabulous birthday party invitation.

Do you Lonny Mag? It is one of my favourite online publications. I find their decor so inspiring.

I would do pretty much anything for this H&M striped dress... I did try to buy it online but the site doesn't do PayPal or accept SA credit cards which if you ask me is a bit lame.

Oh my word. How cute are these pics of this baby, who is 12 weeks... the same age as our Honor Elizabeth... you know what this means, it is time to paint a frame and start snapping.

Weekend away

The two sisters find themselves going to the same city for the long weekend but not together. The husband and I are going to Cape Town and Stellenbosch this evening and I cannot wait (I haven't been there for ages so it's about time). I was given the plane tickets from work - thank-you boss!

Tonight we are staying at The Grand Daddy...

We will be having a leisurely Friday lunch at Delaire Graff Estate...

We will also be visiting the Bosman Family Vineyards...

  ...and La Motte before we make our way back to the city.

What a blissful few days...

Guest Post: Weekend Dreaming

Seeing as today is a good old "hump" day it is only natural that I am already thinking about the weekend ahead and this weekend is especially worth looking forward to since it is a long one. That's right Monday is a holiday (Human Rights Day) so the boyfriend and I are off to the Cape for the weekend.

Here are a few spots that are on my "must visit" list:

My first breakfast I will have at The Daily Deli, 13 Brownlow Road, Tamboerskloof

And later in the morning I will have my second breakfast at Miss K, Shop 1, Winston Place, 65 Main Road, Green Point (2oceasnvibe says, "People who go there get laid more often than those who don’t. FACT." which I rather enjoyed).

I want to shop at Rubarb Room, 142 Buitengracht Service Street,  Haas, 67 rose street, Bo Kaap for more irresistible things and finally any money I possibly have left I'll probably get rid of at Imagenius, 117 Long Street.

As for dinner I want to try The Round House for the views

and The Taste Kitchen for the menu.

The book surgeon

It has been raining and pouring in Johannesburg since last night and the world is very wet and gray outside. Certainly a break from the perfect weather we have been having these last few weeks. And certainly curl-up-in-bed-with-book weather.

These books below are of a different kind - Using knives, tweezers and surgical tools, Brian Dettmer carves one page at a time. Nothing inside the out-of-date encyclopedias, medical journals, illustration books, or dictionaries is relocated or implanted, only removed. "My work is a collaboration with the existing material and its past creators and the completed pieces expose new relationships of the book’s internal elements exactly where they have been since their original conception," he says.

 While I prefer my books to remain in readable form these works and the intricacy involved are absolutely fascinating to me.

A night of extraordinary

I cannot wait to see Cirque Du Soleil on Saturday night. I have seen two of their shows before and always leave with the sense that I have witnessed something extraordinary. In a word, I would say fantastical. If you haven't seen it yet, or even if you have, do yourself a favour and get tickets while they are in South Africa.
