Sand, sea and sun

What a great weekend we had in Plettenberg Bay. On our last night there we decided to have a fish barbeque on the beach. Getting to this particular deserted beach required a 20 minute walk through thick fynbos carrying drinks, firewood, food, blankets and whatnot- which was all fun and games at dusk. The return trek at midnight without torches was a test to our team skills!

Anyway, sitting around the bonfire we were discussing highlights and lowlights of the trip. While the latter were few and far between the severe drought and in the area was one of them, and the fact that we couldn't stay for another week. My highlights were seeing old friends and making new ones, the sweltering heat, a hike with the husband to a secluded beach, and a long afternoon swim in the sea.

Weekend get away

Friday, February 5, 2010

The husband and I are flying to the beach for the weekend (plus a few days). We are meeting a  friend of mine from New York and her Norwegian boyfriend in Plettenberg Bay. I can't wait- I have only ever been there once before for a few grey days, and I haven't seen my friend since I left NY in August. Bring on long walks, longer dinners, lazy days and great company...

Happy weekend!

Going... going... gone!

I remember attending an auction with my mother where she had intended to bid for a persian rug and came home with a grand piano! My sister is successfully following in her footsteps and extols the wonders of the auction as a place to find treasures at, sometimes, affordable prices. Doing some virtual browsing I came across these gorgoeus art deco lamps up for auction this weekend. Unfortunatley bidding is beyond my budget right now but how I would love them them to light up my apartment!

I love this super cool Elias Wessel shoot shot in the streets of New York!

Hair today

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

I got a hair cut today. After growing my fringe out when I got engaged (what we do for weddings!) I decided it was time to get another one. This time it is quite different (I miss Sai my hair stylist in NY!) and has a distinct seventie's vibe.

It looks kind of like this:
The husband doesn't know. He is picking me up in an hour- hope it likes it ;)

Monday, February 1, 2010

I love a new month. And Monday is a perfect day for it to begin. I am looking forward to February because:
  • it is is the month of love
  • we are going away for a weekend
  • it's the Husband's birthday
  • a friend from New York is visiting South Africa
  • my sister and I are launching a new blog
  • it's the hottest month of the year (here's hoping!)
  • and, holding thumbs, I will find a job!
