Happy Friday!

I started my day with a 5.30 Bikram Yoga class (it was my first Bikram class - hence my pride!) and I am hoping that will set the tone for a weekend of wonderful things - two birthdays, relaxing, maxing on cool (and a a whole lot of studying - which doesn't fall into the "wonderful" category).

What will you be getting up to?

Here's my weekly round-up of links you may find interesting:

Talk about turning shopping on it's head, this GAP store is completely upside down!
These Things by Miss Moss are always nice to look at
Commuters are encouraged to use this slide if they are running late (I would use it anyway)
Ever wanted to know what it feels like to fly over the earth? Watch this video to get a glimpse
This made me a little crazy just reading it - what goes on inside the head of a 2 year-old
A top trend at the moment - I am all about prints
Sherbet hues are pretty too
And is the little white dress the new LBD?

Have a good one lovelies xoxo

The Low Line

Thursday, September 29, 2011

Since space is hard to come by in Manhattan, going up or down is often the only feasible option. The High Line, a park built on an old railway running along the west side the island, is already an icon of the city.

Next up? The Low Line. Three urbanist entrepreneurs are proposing to transform an abandoned trolley terminal in the Lower East Side into an underground park. By the look of these renderings, it is sure to be amazing. I just want to get lost under there...

Like we need another reason to go back to New York...

I cannot wait for Amber Jones for Mr Price's latest collection to hit stores. How amazing are these clothes? I love.

Neutrals... breathe

{source}

This apartment has such a light feeling, while still being full and lived-in. The other elements that I love are:
- the floor-to-ceiling bookshelf
- the horns on the wall
- the picture frames
- the shelf of collectibles

hard work can be pretty

It's not just the name, Baileys Home and Garden is full of gorgeous things for the home, garden and office:

"The things we sell are a surprising mix of vintage and new from a variety of sources - but they all share the qualities integral to our repair, reuse, rethink philosophy."

While I am not currently renovating our apartment, we are doing some small jobs around the place (painting, light fittings, clearing, sorting, hanging pictures) which would be all the more pleasant if my toolbox was filled with these kinds of products.

What are your plans for the weekend? If you are in Jo'burg, your plans must include the FNB Johannesburg Art Fair. This is one of my favourite events on the city's calendar (see my pics from last year's fair here). Beside the exhibition of work of some of South Africa's top artists, there are many talks that you can attend. I am certainly going to listen to Chris Dercon from the Tate Modern.

Another event on the South African calendar is Heritage Day, more commonly known as Braai Day. (Watch this video which somewhat depicts the passion for braaing that exists nation-wide.)

While you mull over the strange, although not always exclusive, combination of art and braai, here are some links from around the web to click on:

For a giggle, read the 7 things you shouldn't take a photo of
For insight into a crazy-mad mind, read this quote
For a touch of nostalgia, watch this ad
For a dollop of cuteness, look at this animal
For something in the kitchen, try making this

Have a good one dear readers!

A fashion night out

Thursday, September 22, 2011

Tonight Tshepo and I are attending the Elle New Talent Designer Search (thanks to Cheska), the first show to kick off SA Fashion Week. So in the name of fashion, I am posting these two videos which have been making their way around the web but are fabulous nonetheless.
