I love that moment when you are flying after take off but before you get too high, when you can look out the window and see the details of the world below. It helps to everything in perspective. These pics by David Zimmerman remind me of that.

Guest Post: Send me back to Kerala
Tuesday, March 29, 2011
I am dreaming of my days spent in the town of Fort Kochi in Kerala, India. What is it about March that makes me crave vacations and far away lands?
The calm streets of Fort Kochi
The famour Chinese fishing nets
The vibrant streets
The laundry for the whole town, I was fascinated
I love this picture
I don't usually post pictures of myself btu the boyfriend decided that this image perfectly portrays me in India, calm with a certain peaceful chaos in the background.
La Motte
Monday, March 28, 2011
Why are Monday's always such a shock to the system? It's not as if they come around as a surprise every now and then. It's probably because both our bodies and minds would prefer to still be in the weekend. In fact, I'm still trying to be in last weekend, specifically, at La Motte in Franschoek for Sunday lunch. The beautiful Peierneef Restaurant is inspired by the work of artist Jacob Hendrik Pierneef and you can visit a gallery filled with his work on site. But the food is worth a visit alone. And the setting is a perfect match.
We were lucky to get a sneak peak behind the scenes in the kitchen. The most fascinating were the stoves which become immediately hot when something is placed on them and immediately cool when it is taken off. We could put our hands on the stove as soon as a boiling pot of water was removed.

Things to live by (+happy FRIDAY!!)

How is it that a short week could feel like the longest week ever? All I can say is thank goodness it is Friday. Here are some posts from around the web:
- Cute little winter pj's for babies. No where can I get adult one's like them?
- A lovely wall with lovely chairs. I wish I could hang my pictures this straight.
- A nice simple idea for party invites. Because paper invites are so much more delightful than email invites. That said, if you are going to use email invites, make them Paperless Post.
- I want one of these wrist bands. Especially the leather and gold one and the very thin string band.
- I love maps of all sorts fascinating and this globe lamp makes quite a statement.
- Check out this cool origami by Brian Chan.
Weekend in the winelands
Wednesday, March 23, 2011
I always love going back to Stellenbosch and am filled with nostalgia and wonder at all the gorgeous new spots when I do. This time we explored a bit beyond that and went to a friend's wine farm in Wellington, lunch in Franschoek and various wine farms and restaurants in between. I think it's one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa and, in the sweltering heat of summer it was the perfect weekend getaway.

A long day at work - I guess that's what the work-gods hand you for taking a delicious few days away in the Cape. And what a wonderful few days it was: perfect weather, friends that make you happy, and food that makes your taste buds sing.

Guest Post: Winefarm Living
Tuesday, March 22, 2011
As you know I was also in the Cape for the weekend and apart from Mojito induced lunches, followed by ice cream along the promenade the boyfriend and I were incredibly lazy, although we prefer to call it "relaxed". We spent 2 nights on a winefarm near Wellington. The house was so beauitful, I want to live there.
The living area which opens out on both sides to the most glorious views. I love the neutral tones, the lamps above the dining room table. The cow hide chairs and the Aloe.
Beautiful details.
The living area: I love the mix of prints and the industrial lamp... plus the couch is uber comfy.
The bedrooms: again, the muted prints are lovely and all the bedrooms open out onto the views beyod.
The view over the mountain and the swimming pool (which in 39degrees we used a lot).
Looking over the winelands.
Happy three months Honor

Our beautiful little niece is three months today. If it is possible I heart more each day. This pics was taken about 2 weeks ago but that expression gets me every time.
